A weekend of relaxing and exploring

Recently, due to the move, unpacking boxes, and deep cleaning our old house, all of our weekends have been taken up with chores. It took a while, but we’ve finally got our house to a stage where we feel we can relax and enjoy it! As I said in my post we bought a house, the spare room is a total no-go zone, but apart from that, we’re pretty much there. It looks like home and it feels much more like home now too.

We were really happy this weekend when we finally felt like we were at a stage were we could stop working, relax, and enjoy our home and each other.

Saturday morning was spent swimming with Baby J, which is one of my favourite things in the world! This week, for the first time she didn’t cry when she went underwater – hooray! After swimming, we came home for a quick tidy up before some friends came over for lunch with their two children. It was lovely to catch up with them and just do something that wasn’t house related.

On Sunday we were expecting rain, but in fact, the sun was shining! We had quite a long lie in as Baby J isn’t a fan of sleeping right now and I’d been up in the night quite a bit. Once up and dressed, we headed off for a walk to the nearest pub, where we tucked into a delicious carvery (cauliflower cheese tart in my case). After lunch we walked home through the woodland nature reserve near our house. It just seemed like the perfect Sunday. This is what Sundays were made for.

As always, the weekends go far too quickly. But this one was one of the best we’ve had in a long time. Here are a few snaps from our walk…

And my outfit of choice for this Sunday stroll was simple stripes and jeans…
